A little reassurance

You don’t need to
have it all figured out.

The practical details behind a personal painting.

Do I need the perfect photograph?

No. Share the images that feel most like your subject. We help identify the strongest references and may use several photographs to develop one composition.

What if I don’t know which style I want?

That is completely normal. Choose Atelier guidance. The artistic directions are inspiration, and any selection is a starting point rather than a fixed template.

What is included in the portrait price?

Artistic guidance · Photograph review · Portrait design · Composition development and approval · Oil on canvas · Professional stretching · Final photographic review · Reasonable refinements · Certificate of provenance. Shipping is calculated separately, and framing is optional.

How much is a portrait?

Launch pricing begins at $700 for an 18 × 24 in. painting with one subject. Additional people or pets add $150 each. Five or more subjects receive an individual proposal.

When do I pay?

30% to begin, then 70% after final approval. For a $700 portrait, that is $210 followed by $490. Payment is arranged after the Atelier confirms your proposal.

Will I see the composition before painting?

Yes. The Atelier develops a composition proposal with you. You approve it before your portrait enters the studio.

Can I ask for refinements?

Reasonable refinements are included in the final photographic review. The scope is agreed with your commission. Nothing leaves the Atelier until you have approved the finished painting.

Is stretching included?

Yes. Your painting is professionally stretched. There is no separate stretching charge. A frame is an optional premium upgrade.

How long does it take?

An indicative timeframe is 8–12 weeks. The Atelier confirms timing for composition, painting, drying, finishing, and delivery in the proposal.

Can I commission a home, a landscape, or a memory?

Yes. Start with Begin Your Portrait and tell us what you have in mind. Every commission is considered individually; the Atelier will guide the composition, scale, and approach.

Is Lucien a real artist at the Atelier?

Lucien is the prototype’s fictional Artistic Director: a French-born painter who moved to New York ten years ago and supervises composition and artistic direction in the Atelier’s story. His biography is character copy, not a real staffing claim.
